Retail Homebuying vs. Custom Designing

If the process starts with a standard plan no matter how many options are available, it is not a custom home.

Retail home building begins with the packaging and marketing of a predetermined product on a predetermined lot with predetermined specifications and incentives.

Custom homebuilding is more discerning. The process begins with the question “What do you have in mind?” and expands from that point. The aproaches to the process can vary substantially.
